Casting Call: Male and Female Actors Needed For 2 Theatre Productions!

Northumberland Theatre Company are looking for male and female actors for their two upcoming theatre productions ‘Heartspir’ and ‘The Little Maid who danced to every mood’.

HEARTSPUR
A re-telling of the story of Northumbrian legend, Harry Hotspur and the battle of Shrewsbury, told using modern language, Shakespearean dialogue and live music.

Set in gangland Newcastle, the play takes place in late 1962, just before the Cuban missile crisis and the release of the first major single by The Beatles: ‘Love Me Do’.

CHARACTERS:

SPUGGY * A young/middle-aged derelict and drug addict.

HOTZ Juke’s son. Young-ish, physically strong, good-looking and ambitious. But hot-headed.

BABS ** A naïve, young but sassy glamorous secretary, working for Juke.

KATE Hotz’s wife. Young-ish, intelligent, educated and ambitious. But frustrated with married life.

JUKE *** The twice-widowed owner of the fairground and head of the family and its criminal network. Late middle-aged and lascivious.

TOMMO * Middle-aged, Machiavellian criminal with sophisticated tastes.

PHIL ** Kate’s mother. Married into a Welsh criminal family.

Hard-headed and pragmatic. Late middle-aged.

DUGGIE *** A Scottish thug.

The show will rehearse for three weeks from the 13th of August and tour to rural venues and studio theatres until the 21st of October. The job is fully paid – at least £350 p/w, with a possibility of equity minimum depending on successful funding outcomes. Accommodation is also provided throughout. Full clean driving license is preferred but not essential.
