There are 5 main roles being cast for an upcoming drama, details on each character are below:
Synopsis: Ramen chef and father, Kentaro Murasaki leaves bitter jealousy and confusion for his son, Shoji, when his adopted brother, Andre, inherits the business. Shoji must come to terms with his father’s decision and straighten out his feelings and relationship with his brother Andre.
NAME: Shoji Murakami – Protagonist
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Japanese
Appearance: slim/lean
Personality: cold and blunt
Shoji is a person who keeps to himself, he has somewhat of a cold exterior towards people especially his adopted brother Andre. He can easily be consumed by jealousy and anger quite quickly especially when it comes to his father. However underneath his cold hard exterior is an emotionally delicate man.
NAME: Andre – Antagonist
Age: 26
Ethnicity: Black
Appearance: slim/regular
Personality: earnest and humble
Andre has lived a life as a thug however he has calmed down and is a lot more reserved. However there are traces of his eager to learn.
Andre has had a rough past living as a young street thug however he is eager to prove to himself that he has changed for the better. Andre enjoys the company of people, though he doesn’t always know what to say at the right time. He is incredibly sensitive when it comes to people’s emotions, especially when it comes to his father and brother. Though he might not always have a solution, he acts without thinking and usually has everyone’s best interest at heart.
NAME: Kentaro Murukami
Age: 70
Ethnicity: Japanese, Asian
Body type: regular
Personality: calm and collected
Kentaro is a compassionate man of few words. However when he does speak he is direct and to the point. His soft side knows no bounds and he will do anything for his two sons to make sure they are safe and loved. In his old age he can see right through people. He believes that love can solve anything.
NAME: Young Andre (younger version)
Age: 17
Ethnicity: Black
Appearance: slim/ regular
Personality: Hot headed
Young Andre is a hot-headed boy who doesn’t know how to express himself through his words rather his fists. He has a lot of pride that at time backs him into a corner when confronted.
NAME: Young Shoji Murakami (younger version)
Age: 17
Ethnicity: Japanese
Appearance: slim
Personality: relaxed and laid back
Young Shoji is an earnest boy who follows his father’s instructions, though he is quite intuitive himself. He finds it hard to trust outside people when introduced to his family or safe space.
They’re also looking for the following:
- 6 Eastern Asian extras to play the family in a memorial scene for the father.
- 10 extras of any ethniciti, age or gender to play day-to-day customers at the restaurant
Auditions will take place on: 25th and 28th May
Extras are asked to keep 9th June – 11th June free
Main cast will be needed to shoot on 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th and 17th June.
Shoot is set to be located in Shoreditch.
